Alien Resident Certificate (ARC):
Resident Visa holders (or ones who obtained Resident Visa within ROC by visa change) are required to apply for the Alien Resident Certificate and Re-entry Permit at the local office (1F., No. 12, Sec. 3, Zhonghua Rd., North Dist., Hsinchu City 300, Taiwan) of the Ministry of Interior National Immigration Agency on the next day upon arrival or within 15 days of the issue of your resident visa.
Required Documents:
1. Application form
2. CHU admission notice (freshman students only)
3. Two-inch passport-size photo (2 photos for first-time applicants)
4. Original student ID cards and one copy of both sides of your student ID card
5. Original passport and Resident Visa and one copy of each
6. Dormitory proof
7. NT$1000 (about US$33)
ARC, a temporary ID card which can prove your resident status in Taiwan, is valid for one year. Students have to renew their ARC every year and pay processing fee NT$1,000. It takes 10 workdays for applicants to get their ARC. International students who will continue your enrollment at CHU have to apply for ARC extension within 30 days before your period of residency expires. If you plan to leave Taiwan during the enrollment period, please make sure before your departure that your ARC will still be valid when you return to Taiwan. If the ARC expires during the summer vacation (from July to September), students are allowed to apply for extension from June 1st.
