ENTRY NOTIFICATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN SPRING SEMESTER, 2022
[Latest announcement from the Ministry of Education/ January 27 updated]
Due to the escalating COVID-19 situation in Taiwan and the limited capacity of government-arranged group quarantine facilities, the Ministry of Education received instructions from the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) to suspend international degree-seeking students' application for government-arranged group quarantines facilities between February 15 and February 28, 2022. Those who already received the entry permit and are in the entry application process shall book your quarantine at a quarantine hotel.

【Entry Process】
Before entering Taiwan
1.All students coming to Taiwan are required to provide a certificate of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result issued within three days prior to boarding the flight to Taiwan.
2.Students are required to stay in government-arranged quarantine facilities, which is strongly advised, or quarantine hotels.
3.Visit Taipei Mission or Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in your country to apply for the visa or entry permit (★for HK & Macao students, please visit HighWise Service Foundation for the reservation of apply for the visa).
※Please don't book any flight ticket!!!※
1.Please check the date of flight to Taiwan (Airport code: TPE) 10 workdays earlier (holidays and weekends are not included) before you come to Taiwan, but don't book the ticket until you get the reply from Chung Hua University with quarantine hotel confirmation.
2.Prepare the fee (NTD) for the quarantine hotel (cash or card), phone plan (cash only), taxi and some amount of pocky money. Please also prepare epidemic prevention supplies, ex:masks (for one month), etc.
3.We will send the Overseas Student Entry Permit and Certificate. Print the Overseas Student Entry Permit & Certificate out and take the document with your passport for boarding.
4.According to Taiwan’s policy, we CANNOT pick you up at the airport. If your flight shows delay in arrival, please inform the faculties of International OFFICE previously. If your flight is postponed or canceled, contact us then we will resend a new entry permit and certificate to you.
After landing at the airport
1.After landing, please buy a prepaid SIM card (within 1 month) with data service.
2.Fill in the Quarantine System for Entry, and the text of healthy certificate will be sent to your Taiwanese phone number.
3.Show your result from quarantine system for entry at the airport.
4.Offer your Overseas Student Entry Permit &Certificate, passport, and visa to the customs.
5.Claim your luggage and exchange money.
6.After claiming your luggage, please contact faculties from OIA, and we will take you to the reception for overseas student, the staff of the reception will lead you to take the quarantine taxi and head to the quarantine hotel. (★If you don't finish the register at the quarantine reception or don't want to stay in the arranged hotel by the school, you will be fined for NTD 100,000 to NTD 1,000,000 dollars)
7.You need to take the quarantine taxi from the airport to the hotel and afford the fee by yourself. The distance from the Airport to Hsinchu would cost you NTD 1,000 dollars.
When spending 14-day quarantine and 2 days’ waiting for the PCR testing at the hotel, please follow the rules:
1.Students, staying in government-arranged quarantine facilities, will be guided and assisted from the airport until checking in the quarantine facilities. At the time of arriving at the quarantine facilities, students must take a COVID-19 RT-PCR test. Students must take a rapid home test between the 10th and 12th day, and take a PCR test between the 12th and 14th day at the end of the quarantine period. If the test results are negative, students can leave the quarantine facilities when completing the 14-day requirement. * Students entering via airport or port (transits included) who have visited key high-risk countries (including the following eight countries: Brazil, India, the United Kingdom, Peru, Israel, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Myanmar) in the last 14 days, must stay at government-arranged quarantine facilities. Such students will not be required to pay government-arranged quarantine facility accommodation and testing fees.
2.If choosing to stay at quarantine hotels, students must take a deep-throat saliva specimen for COVID-19 RT-PCR test upon arrival at the airport in Taiwan and take a quarantine vehicle to the quarantine hotel where you plan to complete quarantine at your own expense for the 14-day quarantine. Such students shall take a rapid home test between the 10th and 12th day of the quarantine period, and also a PCR test between the 12th and 14th. School should help students to contact hospitals for arranging the PCR test at the hospital nearby.
3.All students must have a PCR test at the end of the quarantine period. If showing symptoms of fever, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea or respiratory symptoms during the quarantine period, students must take a PCR test on Day 15 after the quarantine period ends.
4.After the quarantine comes to an end, Chung Hua University would arrange a car to pick you up to the place/hotel for you to complete the 7-day self-health management. After 14-day quarantines, there are 7 days for self-healthy management.
7-day Self-Health Management: (★During the 7 days, it is forbidden to enter the campus)
Students can arrange your own accommodation for undergoing 7-day self-health management, at a hotel, private apartment (one person per room). If students wish to stay at school-arranged self-health management dormitory, the fee is NT$800 per day, excluding daily meals, electricity bills, beddings and personal necessities.
Self-Health Management Notice
1. Everyone who completes 14-day home quarantine must undergo an additional 7 days of self-health management
2. Please keep your hands clean. You should wash your hands with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizers frequently. Please refrain from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with your hands. If you touch secretions from your respiratory tract with your hands, please wash your hands thoroughly with soap.
3. During the self-health management period, please keep a record of your temperature (morning and evening), health status and daily activities (what/where you do/go). You must also cooperate in providing a Taiwan mobile phone number, responding to interactive SMS, accepting telephone inquiries of health conditions, or following other necessary care and follow-up mechanisms.
4. During the self-health management period, please wear a surgical mask all the time to protect yourself and others if your roommates share the same residence with you.
5. Please do avoid going out. If you must go outside, please wear a medical mask correctly at all times and avoid entering areas where you cannot maintain social distancing (1.5 meters indoors and 1 meter outdoors) or areas where you are likely to come into close contact with random people.
6. No taking public transportation. During your self-health management, you may take out the food and return to your selfhealth management location to eat. You are prohibited from engaging in close or cluster activities with other individuals such as having meals together, gatherings, public gatherings, or other similar activities.
7. You are forbidden to go to school (including school dorm).
8. Do not visit or stay with a hospitalized individual in a hospital.
9. Non-essential or non-urgent medical services or examinations shall be postponed. If you have a fever (≥38˚C), loss of smell or taste, diarrhea or any respiratory symptoms, please put on a surgical mask. Please call the toll-free hotline 1922 and contact us. You may NOT go out to see a doctor by yourself.
10.Any person violating the aforementioned health management regulations may be penalized with a fine of up to NT$300,000.
