The 11th "Xinpu Fenghua Winter Camp" will be led by a team of professors from Chung Hua University to Xinpu Town during the winter vacation of this year (2021), allowing elementary school students to experience rural ecology and industry, handicraft creation, natural exploration and other local cultural themes. Chen Xiangyuan, Director of the Department of Industrial Product Design of Chung Hua University, said that the Little Master Career Experience Camp has been held for six years. Through the activities of the winter camp, more people can learn about the cultural and ecological characteristics of Xinpu and let everyone see Chung Hua University’s Empirical results of the practice of social responsibility in local universities.

 

Chung Hua University implemented the University Social Responsibility (USR) Practice Program of the Ministry of Education and the Rural Co-creation Program of the Water and Water Conservation Bureau. After four years, small farmers in the local community have learned how to market their own production fields and used their own success to promote the surrounding areas. Small farmers learn new organic planting and operation modes together, and jointly innovate industries in rural areas.

 

Director Chen Xiangyuan further mentioned that another goal of the winter camp is to cultivate the spirit of accomplishment in the 108 course syllabus. The new version of the syllabus especially emphasizes "spontaneous" active learning, which is good at inducing students' learning motivation and enthusiasm in education, and guides learning to "interact" with others, society, and nature.
