Apply For Work permit --Workforce Development Agency EZ Work Permit Manual

Work Permit:
 

International students who would like to work part-time (either on campus or off campus) are required to apply for and obtain the work permit before starting work. International students should apply their work permit online; it will take about 7 workdays, if all required documents are uploaded, to get the work permit. International students who get hired without obtaining a work permit beforehand will be fined for NT$30,000 to NT$150,000 and ordered to leave the country immediately.

Before applying for your work permit online, interantional students are recommend to prepare the following required documents in digital format (PDF)You should transfer the following documents to PDF (one single file should not larger than 10MB). When you click "upload file" tab, you can upload them as stated in file folders. Here are suggested procedures:

1. Photocopy of student ID card (front and back side) and a current "Certificate of Enrollment" (在學證明) [it may also be called as "study certificate" or "proof of study"] which you should apply for every semester from the Office of Academic Affairs of Chung Hua University.

2. Fill in the postal remittance slip (see photo 1 bleow), pay NT$100 examination fee, and you will receive a postal transfer recipt (see photo 2 below). You need the postal transfer receipt to fill in the following information: (1) remittance date (2) amount of examination fee (3) post office of remittance (4) receipt number of postal remittance (the last 7 digits of the postal remittance receipt) when you apply for work permit online.

3. Photocopy of Passport (the page with your photo and passport number).

4. Front and back photocopy of the resident certificate (ARC).

After you fill in the required fields and upload all the required PDF documents, you should press "submit to school for examination".

Important notes for international and overseas Chinese students who work part-time during their studies in Taiwan:

1. According to the "Permits and Regulations for Employing Foreign Talent," international students and overseas Chinese who come to Taiwan to study in the formal academic system can apply for a work permit from the Ministry of Labor after school registration.

2. Work permits are vailid for six months.

3. Work permits for applicants applying during the first semester (the fall semester) are valid until March 31st in the second semester. Work permits for applicants applying during the second semester (the spring semester) are valid until September 30th of the same year.

4. You can work up to 20 hours a week, though winter and summer vacations are not limited to this restraint.
